Welcome to BGGE Education Edge ...

FREE resource center for students of higher education & jobseekers!

Most students find academia exciting and stimulating, but also challenging.  Finding the time to do it all is a major challenge.  Traditional students must  balance coursework, extracurricular, and social activities, while "nontraditional" students often have to juggle family and work , in addition to their classwork demands.  And with the rising cost of higher education, finding the money to pay for tuition, books, and supplies, as well as basic living and recreational expenses, can be the biggest challenge for both the traditional and nontraditional student.

So where can students find support?

Support services (i.e. academic advising, counseling, wellness, financial aid, learning assistance programs, etc.) for traditional students is a non-issue on most campuses.  They also have access to various social clubs and/or organizations.  However, dedicated support for nontraditional students vary from institution to institution.  For example, some campuses, like UNCW, provide a range of programs and services for its nontraditional students while other campuses may offer no more than a two-hour "special" orientation during registration week, if at all.

In the following sections, you will find free resources to help you achieve your educational and career goals.  I hope Education Edge will prove useful by providing you with reliable resources in one place, thus saving you a few hours of research time.  Our sponsors are screened to ensure that they offer quality, yet affordable products & services to students and professionals on a budget.

Dedication

This channel is dedicated to my former professors at Jacksonville State University and Ayers State Technical College. The encouragement and instruction of Jess Godbey, Ed Bellman, Lyle Barnard, Mark Hearn, Katherine Cain, Ben Hardy, Dale Cox, Burt Allred, Lynda Hollis, Geraldine York, and Pam H. Johnson provided me, a " non-traditional student", with the confidence to pursue such a challenging field at this stage of my life.

My website design knowledge is self-taught, but based on the skills developed from formatting tables and graphics incorporated into the many - and I mean many - PowerPoint presentations, papers, and projects submitted when I was a technology undergraduate. I have been truly blessed to have had so many talented educators, all of whom I could not name here (although it looks like I tried - smile). But know that this dedication is made to you, too.

Special Thanks to the Mrs. Beasley and the Anniston Career Center staff who started me on my technology career path, to Cathy Matthews and Dr. Louise Clarke who helped with my scheduling issues, to David Ziegler's for the "Who's Who" nomination, to Juanita Roper who retyped all my notes, to Sibbie Hawthrone, Angela Alston, Inez Ragland, Barbara Fleetion, Margie Bonner, & Connie Cantrell for their words of inspiration, to Jessie Williams for his recommendations, and to Robbie Medders who first recognized & encouraged my passion for business.

Thank You All!
